“Pity. Clearly, fame isn’t everything. Is it, Mr. Potter?”
If you know who said this line in which movie, you are clearly a fan of the Harry Potter franchise. Yes, it was one of the iconic lines of Professor Severus Snape who was played by none other than Alan Rickman. Despite his death some six years ago from pancreatic cancer, the actor is still making headlines as his personal diaries are set to be published by Canongate Books.
The diaries span twenty-five years of Rickman’s life. It has his personal thoughts of his everyday life, acting career, political views, and so much more condensed in one book. It will reportedly be called The Diaries of Alan Rickman.
His widow Rima Horton went on to say that his writing reveals not just the actor but the real person with his sense of humor, sharp observation, craftmanship, and his devotion to the arts.
The diaries were compiled and will be edited by Alan Taylor, editor of the Scottish Review of Books who also put together The Country Diaries. He reportedly says that the diaries are anecdotal, indiscreet, witty, gossipy, and utterly candid.
If these inside statements are any indication, the publication and release of the diaries in the fall of 2022 will be as sensational as the actor’s career! This is truly something that readers and fans alike can look forward to. More so, it will be a posthumous dream come true for the great Alan Rickman!
